Hi!

Welcome to the new RAG webpage! We hope you like it! Here you will find all the information about RAG at De Montfort you will need including upcoming and past events, charity information and a big running total for how much we’ve raised so far this year!

DMU RAG has been around for quite a while. But over the past few years it had began to to fade out of the day to day life at DMU before eventually dying out. Last Year saw RAG start back up again following a huge relaunch and rebranding under the watchful eye of Amy Evans the 2009/10 VP Student Activities. DMU RAG did really well in its first year. Raising over £4000 with lots of the money being donated to local charity LOROS and to the British Heart Foundation.

The 2010/11 academic year saw RAG take a new huge step forward with a new committee taking the reigns made up of myself, Thomas Norman, Lynette Williams and Kirstyn Forward where we set ourselves a fundraising  target of £10,000.

The first half of the year has been superb! Big events so far have been the trip to Amsterdam which raised £1300. The Naked Calendar which raised £1500, Movember which raised a hair raising £1400, several charity cocktail bars in the union, the AU Bar Crawl and loads more!

January (12th-19th)  see’s DMUs first ever RAG Week which we hope will be a huge success where we will be hosting loads of wicked events such as the poker night, DMU at play bar crawl, the balloon release, and a huge raffle with the top prize of A HOLIDAY FOR THREE!!!!

The second and third terms will see RAG running its annual Escape and Evade event along with the Kilimanjaro challenge, the Goals 5-a-side tornement, Children in need night in the SU and a whole host of other wicked events!

RAG isnt a charity, we dont take any money, everything we raise we donate to the specific charity stated for the event. If you and your society want to do a fundraiser you can donate the money to what ever cause you like.

Getting involved in RAG brilliant and I really hope that you will join in with everything that we’ve got planned. Its fun, crazy and will give you the chance to do things you would never be able to do anywhere else. If you would like to get involved feel free to email me on L.Davis@dmu.ac.uk for more information.

If you ever have any fundraising ideas or would like to do a drive for a certain charity we are always happy to help and assist you.Just let us know and remember to think outside the box!

See you in RAG Week!

Liam
